You have the power to help a young Mom

Dear Friends,

We go through the ups and downs of life, and many a times, we have the ability to survive on mere food, water and shelter. There are times, we can have all the things life has to offer, but there are other times when we are completely dependent on one thing, just one thing for survival; one simple organ. I am asking you to look at the possibility of helping a young mother in her late thirties, daughter of my friend, who is in need of a kidney.

One kidney to survive!

Both of her kidneys are failing, and the family has exhausted all the possibilities for donors from within the family and friends circle. The waiting list for the match from the system (people who donate upon their death) is about three to five years.

You can help her

It takes years for the kidneys to degenerate to the point where they no longer work. Today her kidneys have only about 15 percent of function remaining.

Currently, through a paired donation program, unique opportunity with a kidney with a perfect match has been identified, if we can quickly find a donor with blood type A or O. Please come forward even if your blood type is not A or O as we can use it for a later possibility, if we run out of time for this opportunity.

The whole world is one family and we need each other in times of crises, each one of us can step up and save each other.

All the expenses, including medical and after care would be covered by her insurance.

To qualify as a living organ donor, an individual must be physically fit, in good general health, and not have high blood pressure, diabetes, cancer, kidney disease or heart disease. Individuals are usually between 18-60 years of age. Gender and race do not matter. The screening process to become a living donor is very thorough to assure the high rate of success. Having the right blood type is a start, but certainly not a guarantee of compatibility or acceptance.

Donor Surgery

The live donor surgery is performed laparoscopically, through small incisions, leading to a more prompt recovery and return to normal activities usually within 2-4 weeks.

I request that you forward this appeal to your friends and family and to your e-mail addresses.
