Ryland Homes hired
Mike to give a jump-start to the dormant Kirby Creek
community in Grand Prairie; he ran with the ball and closed
the neighborhood within a year. Then he started the
Peninsula neighborhood in Rowlett and went on to close out 8
communities around the Metroplex. He was the sole winner of
Rayland’s contest to London and made it to number 1 position
with Ryland in the slump years of 1985-86.

Homebuilders like Huntington, Plantation and Sovereign
walked away from Bent Tree Hills of North Dallas for all the
adverse publicity that hit them about the "low income
housing". Mike Ghouse and Doug Edwards took the
responsibility of getting Grand Homes its firm footing. In
fact, Bent Tree Hills went on to become Grand's flagship
community. The 161 homes community was sold out in two
years. Mike remained among the top 4 New Home Counselors
