The Map below
represents the Subcontinent - Actual Subcontinent is comprised of
India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bhutan and Maldives
Islands. Bhutan is not shown here, but exists immediately to the
east of Nepal and Maldives Islands are to the SE of Indian peninsula.
This map is of dispute
between India and Pakistan. The very north peak is Part of India,
whereas the Pakistani Map shows that
top
left peak as Pakistan's territory. The United Nations Map shows the
line of control as the political boundary between India and Pakistan.
The line of control was established upon ceasefire of the 1965
War between India and Pakistan, line was drawn between whoever
controlled the territory at that time. That line approximately cuts
the top left peak of the map off India into Pakistan.
To most Indians and
Pakistani’s the issue is a political one and not between the people,
they believe God did not descend on earth in August 1947 and drew the line between the
nations, it was the work of politicians and as such it is not a
barrier. However, for some it is a personal thing and they are willing
to punch you in your face and argue endlessly about Kashmir. The above
map is the Indian Version of the Map, and then there is a Pakistani
version as well as UN Version and a Microsoft Version.
As Americans we hated Saddam
Hussein, we hated Soviet Union and we hated China one time - but we
never hated the people of those nations, we had no reason to hate
them. We probably had reasons to hate their Governments. Like wise, it
is time to think, honestly think and understand that those
people, the Iraqi's, the Palestinians or any one out there do not hate
us. They may hate our Government and they may hate our policies
toward their nations but not us. Is there any truth to it? The
essence of freedom is the ability to question and find out the truth.
We should put our faith in our government but should never give up the
right to question. We have always found the truth several years
later. I do sincerely hope that we need to zero think our
policies and fix the flaws that puts our lives in harm's way around
the globe.
I am
proud of my heritage and am proud to have been born in India and proud
to have chosen to be an American. As an American it is my duty to do
everything that is good for my nation. And earning the respect for my
country in the community of nations is my duty.

Mike Ghouse, a proud
Indian American.
